Robert Half is looking for a qualified Accounting Clerk to maintain the day-to-day functions in a department. In this Accounting Clerk role, you will be responsible for matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry and assisting in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This is a long-term contract / temporary employment based in the Jamaica, New York area.
Your responsibilities

• Mend discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required
• See to the proper coding of documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes
• Help Accounts Payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing
• Submit financial figures to journals and ledgers
• Overall accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable: apply cash receipt, process daily invoices/credit, and help with collection of past due balance
• Prepare statements and reports that require utilization of a number of sources
• AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
• Bank reconciliations experience desired
• Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now
• Payroll experience
• Accurate, swift, data entry abilities
• Familiar with Spreadsheet and ERP system
• Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds
